Exploring the Web of Life One Stencil at a Time

Corrine Gilman here sharing a page in my art journal that started when I picked up Mary Beth Shaw's stencil the Web from StencilGirl Products.  All I could think of was the web of life and how this stencil made me want to explore all the layers of our own web of life.  I started with a page that had a splash of green and traced part of the stencil in with ballpoint pen.
Now what's a web without layering, so with pastels and a soft sponge I layered the stencil repeatedly in different colors.
Webs are intricate so this paged needed some dimension.  With already printed papers at hand I began to build up the web.
I had used the Urban Jungle stencil from Mary Beth Shaw from my mini set on some of these papers and the Squiggles 6 stencil from Terri Stegmiller on some others. Still it needed more depth to make the web come alive.
Pastels in black and vivid yellow gave it the drama I was looking for and my exploration of the web of life was complete.
