Experience is an Arch

Arched Aquaduct designed by Carolyn Dube has long been a favorite of mine and
I decided to use it for this spread in my Dylusions journal, done as Guest Designer for Stencilgirl Products.
I have had so much fun making this page! The arch stencil is very versatile
but in this case I just wanted to make some colorful arches filled with pattern.
Hope you will enjoy playing, too.

1.       Gesso spread in  9 x 12” Dylusions Journal

2.       Using Arched Aquaduct and multiple colors of acrylic paint
cover the spread in arches of different colors and sizes.

3.       Outline all arches with a black permanent marker (I used a Sharpie).

4.       Fill in all the white areas with black. I used a Kuretake Zig Scroll & Brush pen.

5.       Using stencil Traci Bautista's Tropical Floral stencil, add pattern to the arches.
I used black, white, red and yellow paint. Try and use as many different patterns as you can find on the stencil.
Don’t fill all the arches. Leaving some without additional patterns adds variety.

6.       Outline patterns with black and white markers.

7.       Add the text quotation in some of the empty arches as shown, and outline in black.
I used a shortened quotation from Tennyson’s Ulysses that reads:
Yet all experience is an arch wherethrough gleams that untravelled world,
whose margins fade for ever and ever, when I move.
