The Traveling Canvas

Hello and Welcome to the StencilGirl® blog!  Tina Walker here today, with a new Collaboration Columnist post!  Collaborations are near and dear to my heart and I get giddy when I am collaborating with my fellow artists and makers.  I love sharing ideas and techniques and collaborations that involve receiving a piece of another's artistic soul, is at the heart of what makes my happy!

For the past 6 months, 6 artists, including myself, have been working on a global sharing project.  Each artist began with a blank canvas that was layered with love, as it traveled the world.   Each artist added a bit of their creative soul to the original artists canvas, so that when the original owner received their canvas back, it was full of luscious layers and incredible joy!

Let's meet these wonderful Traveling Canvas Artists!

and myself, Tina Walker

I host many collaborations on-line, but when the challenge involves sharing, it just kicks it up a notch and you never know what the outcome will be!

Would you like to see a peek at how each canvas started and how each one ended up?  Trust me, you'll be amazed at the transformation of each one, and you'll see hints of each artist and their signature styles.  Want to see more?  Click each artist name to be transported to their blog for behind the scenes pictures and details shots!

Tina Walker -

For my canvas, I thought it would be fun to share each layer, as it progressed from my original layer to the completed piece.

Layer One - completed by me!  For sake of transparency, I re-purposed an old canvas that already had some stenciling...I thought it would be perfect for this challenge.

Layer Two - completed by Aditi.

Layer Three - completed by Sunila.

Layer Four - completed by Anne Marie.

I really love seeing the canvas develop.

Layer Five - completed by Jill.

Layer Six - completed by Kristin.

When I received my canvas back, I wanted to brighten the overall palette and highlight the wonderful stenciled image.  There is such a beautiful story hidden in all of the gorgeous layers and I can now call it mine. ♥♥♥
