NEW Stencil Release from StencilGirl Products and Terri Stegmiller

Hi! Terri Stegmiller here! I'm honored to be sharing my newest stencil design releases from StencilGirl Products with you. There are nine new designs! You can purchase them all HERE.

I love working with stencils and adding new ones to my stash is so much fun. I mainly (not always) work with fabrics and I really enjoy creating my own unique fabrics for the work I do. I create quilts, art quilts, handbags and totes, and many more fun accessories. I love creating fun and interesting surface designs on my fabrics and many of my stencil designs tend to be an allover design for this type of surface design use.

I'll show you an example of how I used these new stencil designs to create some unique fabrics and then put them together in a project.

I love the graphic boldness of black on white (or vice versa). Here are some fabrics I made in blacks and whites. I use a foam roller to apply textile paints to my fabrics. I'm using the Hearts Gridded stencil in the first example.

The next example is made using the Diamond Dance, Inky Hearts, Striped Hexagon, and Inky Circles stencils. I ended up not using this fabric in my project but it will be available for me when I need it for another project.

In the next example I applied white opaque textile paint onto black fabric using the 9x12" Square Dance stencil.

Adding a swatch of these black and white fabrics to a project that is full of color really makes everything pop.

I found a lovely piece of turquoise hand dyed fabric in my stash and created an allover pattern using the 9x12" Square Dance stencil. I applied a light blue textile paint on top of the turquoise.

Using the Tossed Blossoms stencil, I added a layer using a light salmon pink.

Now that my fabrics were created, I was ready to make my project. I made a composition notebook cover with these.  At one point during the creation of the cover, I grabbed the Bold Flower stencil and added some flowers to the front and back cover in a dark coral.

Here is the front cover.

And here is the back cover.

The fabrics are fused onto a stiff interfacing and then I added stitching where I wanted.

Here is an example of a piece of cotton duck fabric that I created using the Merry Go Round stencil along with some of the other stencils in my stash. The piece of cotton duck is approximately 18" x 30".

I then take the painted cotton duck fabric and turn it into market totes, like this.

Here is an example of a zippered pouch I made from some stenciled fabrics.

And this is a mini quilt I made.

I hope these projects have inspired you.
