Have you seen Mary Beth Shaw's Private Collection 16.1?

The large stencil reminded me of a wall of shrub bushes or trees.

I let some flowery vines grow up the sides.

This next one is an art journal cover.

I used the smallest stencil and doodled around it...

Added the word 'art' with Carolyn Dube's Vintage Typewriter Stencil.

Next, the last page in my 2015 Documented Life Project.

I used the largest "drippy" stencil in the background layer. 

Some of the middle sized 'graffiti' stencil is in the top layers.

I used the numbers from the previous December 2015 StencilClub Stencil.

to share what I've been making with the January StencilClub stencils, too!

Inspired by Carla Devine's recent blog post on creating labels for mixed media art journaling,

I had a go at it with this month's stencils!

I used my Gelli Plate and the largest stencil to apply the first layers of acrylic paint.

Then I used The Groove Tool and foam tip with black ink through the medium-sized stencil

to add more layers onto the square labels.

On the round labels, I used my Identi-Pen to doodle around the white shapes I created

by pouncing white acrylic through the mini stencil:

These are the finished label sheets!

And a detailed photo:

You can see the square and circle shaped labels once I removed the remnants.
(And you can bet I'm going to use those remnants in my mixed media art journals, too!)

You're really going to love the lines and patterns of these stencils, and all the textures you can create with them!

Last up, this is Gwen with one more project featuring this month's awesome StencilClub collection! These are such fabulous stencils for creating layers in your work... I decided to use them to do just that in a mixed media paint and collage piece.

 

Here's a little peek at how this came together... I started with a sheet of 11"x14" heavy-weight mixed media paper that had a painted background on it. I collaged some vintage book text on the top, then I stenciled the 6x6 design over and over on a piece of white tissue paper. I collaged that over the book text, then used the 9x12 with some black paint on the bottom (I also used a paint marker to cover the bridges and make it look like solid paint drips.)

Next, I took some sheets of underpaper with lots of paint on them along with more of my stenciled tissue paper. I also stenciled with the 4x4 on some deli paper that had paint on it. I collaged strips of these across the page with gel medium, then used some Frantage chunky gold embossing powder to put a line of gold texture across the middle. I added my Japanese block print and stenciled around him with the 4x4.

 I pulled out the November StencilClub stencils to add some words in gold. They say "Story Revealed" and with the iridescent paint, they kind of become invisible in certain light which I thought was pretty cool given the title! I love the look of all of the different layers in this piece, and I hope you're excited for this month's stencils and feeling inspired to use them!
