Jane LaFazio: Making Ceramic Coasters with StencilGirl Stencils!

You know those paint-your-own-ceramic places? They are often located in malls or shopping centers. You select the ceramic dish, tile, bowl or whatever you’d like to paint and they provide the paint, brushes and then fire it for you in their kiln. Usually you can pick up your finished masterpiece in a week or less.

It’s a fun activity, to go alone or with a group of friends. It’s creative and productive!

I thought it would be great fun to use stencils to paint on the simplest of ceramic shape, a flat coaster.
You can’t go wrong.

I selected a color scheme that would go well in my home.
And using a sponge brush, I dabbed on the paint though my StencilGirl designs

If you are doing a more dimensional shape, use painters tape to adhere your stencil to the surface.

Have fun!
