My name is
Catie Guse a.k.a fivefingerartstudio on Instagram.
Thank you
so much for having me as a guest designer!
Let's
start off with “happy accidents happen at spontaneous moments!"
There is
never a plan when it comes to my art journals. I love jumping around from journal to
journal or piece of loose paper. And this
page was no exception.
Today I
want to share a quick and easy page that’s great for those warm ups or when you only
have a short amount of time to play with your supplies.
Supplies
used:
Art
journal
Matte
black gesso
Crayola
markers or a water soluble medium
Sharpie
poster paint water soluble marker
White
gesso matte
Cecilia Swatton's Feathers 6 stencil
Rae Missigman's Travel Note stencil
Kae Pea's Wheel in the Sky stencil
Seth Apter's Text and Texture Discovery stencil

Here I scribbled,
doodled and lettered using Crayola markers. The more random mark colors you use
and the more surface covered will yield better results in the next few steps.
Remember the idea is to be quick and most importantly relaxed.
With
your black gesso, scrape a thin layer onto your page leaving some marks show
through on the edges for more interest and let dry.
Now for the fun part! Add white Sharpie paint pen and/or gesso or matte paint and doodle through a stencil or two or ten!!
You’re
also welcome to tag me on Instagram or Catie Guse on Facebook.
I'd love to see
what you make or how you have incorporated this technique into your art!
Lots'o'love,
Catie
