Fall Art Journal Page by Cindy Gilstrap

Hi! Cindy Gilstrap here.
Fall is in the air and this fall themed art journal page makes me want to bake a pie! I do a lot of playing in my art journals. Some things stay in my art journal but some, like this page, could turn into a fall themed home decor piece.

Let's get started... I started with a vintage piece of wallpaper that just reminds me of fall. I glued it down on my page with a glue stick. You could use any type of paper.

I then painted an oval with white gesso. You may have to do a couple of coats to cover up the background. I had to do two.

After painting two coats of gesso, I added Rae's 6x6 Seaside Lavender stencil using pink paint.

I then painting a scallop border around the oval with white gesso.

With a prisma color pencil I added pencil detail on the stencil design, the border, and added the word fall.

I wanted to tone down the white and distress it to make it look more like fall. I used distress stain over the entire page and then took a baby wipe to move it around and wipe off some of the color.

I went back over some of my pencil marks and then added some more color and doodle details with some Neo Color crayons.

I added a few more doodle details with a white gel pen.

A really fun way to celebrate fall and try out techniques that you may decide to turn into something else.

Have fun playing with your stencils!!! Come see me anytime over at Junque Art.

xoxo,
Cindy
