Soulful Story Art with Annie Hamman

Hello dear artists!

I am meeting you 3^rd time this year and enjoying making these instructional videos with stencils that I love so much. I used 3 stencils again, mainly to compliment my girl with patterns all around her. I hope you enjoy this video and please share your creations!

Art supplies for this class:

Mixed-media paper (I used hot pressed 140 lbs 300 gm, in my art journal)

Heavy body artist quality acrylics (I used Paynes grey, quinacridone magenta, quinacridone nickel azo gold, cadmium yellow light & dark, phthalo turquoise, white)

Brushes, bucket of water, rug, sponge

Stabilo All Pencil to sketch composition (black and white)

Cut-out from  a magazine

Collage pieces

Acrylic gel medium/ or gloss medium/ or matte medium to glue gollage on

Discarded credit card to smooth your collages while gluing it

StencilGirl Stencils (for faces: Face Silhouette, for background: Woolf Leaves, Doodle It Tornado Flowers, Chevron Doily)

Colorful Faces with Annie Hamman

Hello, StencilGirl Products Lovers!

I am happy to present another tutorial on creating abstract fearless background and integrating colourful faces into it. I hope you enjoy it and have fun creating!

Art supplies for this class:

Mixed-media paper (I use cold pressed 300 gsm)

Primary Acrylic colors (I use Ultramarine blue, cadmium and indian yellows, pyrrole red, white)

Brushes, bucket of water, rug, sponge, ruler, wet palette for acrylics

Clear stamps and found object stamps

Watersoluble pencil (I used red Stabilo All)

Collage pieces

Acrylic gel medium/ or gloss medium/ or matte medium

Scratchy tool (I use porcupine stick)

StencilGirl Stencils (for faces: Pam Carriker's Face Silhouette, for background: Cecilia Swatton's Tangled Pods, Mary Beth Shaw's Fairy Tale Tree Mask, Carolyn Dube's Encouraging Scribbles, and Michelle Ward's Border Circles)

Guest Designer Tallulah Jade Rainbow

Dear friends!

This is rather unusual art lesson from my personal teacher of fearless art – Tallulah Jade Rainbow. She just turned 4 in January and was painting in this style since she was 1. While observing her for 3 years I have learned to let go of my attachment to outcome, I learned to take risks, to play and be free. Although she is an abstract artist and I paint faces – principles of fearless art are the same. We share the same passion for stencils, especially StencilGirl Products, and hey – we are not getting paid to say that. We just love stencilling and that is the truth! I hope you enjoy this class and have fun creating!

1. Go large.
2. Imagine a story.
3. Play.
4. Play more.
5. Get covered in paint.
6. Sing and dance in between.
7. Go for it.
8. Really go for it.
9. Never mind the outcome.
10. Layer.
11. Experiment.
12. Make lots of random marks.
13. Accidents are always happy.
14. Have fun!
15. Don’t forget the stencils!

Supplies list:

Old shoes and clothing to wear

Large canvas (the bigger the better)

Acrylics: heavy body and pourable

Acrylic spray inks

Stencils and stamp tools

Sponge, palette knife, brushes

Plastic cups and squeegee bottles to pour acrylics

Rag to wipe hands

Bucket with water to through in dirty tools during the process

Dear friend! My name is Annie Hamman, I am a mixed-media artist and a professional filming editor from South Africa and I made a video creating this mixed-media artwork using StencilGirl products:

The 4 minute intro video below tells a little about me and what I am up to. I'll then show you another video with my step-by-step process.

**To the viewer not familiar with Vimeo. If you have trouble viewing, try to switch off HD (high definition) button in the bottom right corner. Second solution that helps me is to open old fashioned Internet Explorer browser, it supports Vimeo with no problem, while Chrome browser gives me lots of problems.

This is 28 minutes video showing my step by step process, which was edited, tightly cut and fast forwarded for easy viewing:

Supply List:

My color palette  is Carbon Black, Prussian Blue, Middle Grey, Raw Umber, Transparent Pyrrole Red (can be substituted for Mars or Ivory Black, Pthalo blue or Paynes Grey, Napthol Red or Cadmium Red Medium):

Various collage pieces.

Found objects stamps.

Titanium white (any brand), filbert brushes in variety of sizes and brands (cheap ones), a stick - to scratch into wet paint (I use found porcupine needle), any black watersoluble pencil (I use Derwent Watercolor in Ivory Black):

Initial background that I started on is 300lbs hot pressed watercolour paper, painted with a mixture of black, blue and white:

 Stencils used for girl’s dress and wing: Chevron Doily Mask and Web.
