Word Play...

Hi, Linda Kittmer here...I'm back today to play with words using Carolyn Dube's fun Use Your Words' stencil.

I love words and text of all kinds, and today I was in the mood to play with Carolyn's fun words along with some bright colours.  Somehow it just seems fitting to pair a Carolyn Dube stencil with a lot of bright colour, don't you think?

Use Your Words is the Deal of the Day over on
StencilGirl Products TODAY!!

I started by randomly tracing many of the words here and there all over the page (I'm sorry for the terrible photo.  I didn't realize how bad it was until after I had already moved on to other stages so I couldn't retake it).

I gave consideration to which letters would be over or under others so that when it came time to trace with the black permanent pen I'd know which pencil lines to trace and which lines would be covered up by the letters on top.
After tracing all of the letters in black, I started colouring in each of the words with a different colour of bright Copic marker.  Occasionally I had to refer back to the stencil to figure out what parts I was supposed to be colouring because of all the overlapping letters ;o)

When all the words were coloured in, I started randomly filling in the background areas.  Each solid area was coloured a different colour, taking care to avoid like colours ending up side by side.

Some shadows to make the "Play with words" text pop a bit, black and white dots and some white accents on the coloured words and I finally called it done!

I hope I've encouraged you to grab your
favourite beverage, get your stencils out
and have some colourful 'me' time!
