My sister has the best sister, the book!

Greetings and Salutations! Carol Baxter on StencilGirl Talk today.

My sister and I share genes, a love of music, and an extreme sense of humor.

She is a mom, a friend, a wife, a grandmother, a nurse, and she speaks with a Texas drawl I just dig!

We didn't grow up in the same state and don't get to spend much time together, but I wanted to make her something sisterly because she makes everyone around her feel good and sometimes forgets about herself.

You may wish to argue, but I contend that my sister has the best sister!

I was going to share this as a blank page for a photo, but this is my handsome big brother whom my sister and I miss.

This page was the first one I did with the serendipitous little heart.

I think this is the funniest. If you knew us, you would laugh!

Because: CHOCOLATE!

This page is really sparkling in the sunlight. The stars are edged with a glaze pen.

Apparently, I do possess a bit of drawing ability! I made the drawing in pencil on tissue paper of dad holding my sister.

The altered library card above fits in this pocket:

The mortar between the bricks of the garden wall was created by me writing mine and my sister's names over and over and over.

Sisters are for sharing Laughter and wiping Tears.

This book was made out of one big solid piece of paper that I stenciled on front and back, cut up, sewed together, and then embellished. I looked up sisterly quotes on the net.

If you want to know how to make a little book for your sister or someone you love, you can check out Simple Improv Bookmaking with Mary Beth Shaw. Yup, I am her assistant, but I pride myself on shooting straight. It is an excellent class and you will be addicted to making little books afterward. (I have 5 in process right now!)

I must say, that after tackling this and feeling so pleased with it, I am now ready to start on the pages of the handmade blank art journal Gwen gave me a couple of years ago. I had been looking at it with longing and fear. Now I feel anticipation and ideas forming!
