October StencilClub Creative Team Inspiration

It is time to show you what some of the members of our team did with the October StencilClub stencils designed by Mary Beth Shaw.  Three stencils.......but wait! They magically turn into NINE stencils and make an endless amount of patterns.
Here are just some of the ideas our team came up with:

I had TONS of fun with this month's StencilClub stencils in my mixed-media art journal!
I loved experimenting with these stencils and the resist technique Mary Beth Shaw shared in this recent video!
Below are two spreads I created and detailed photos, too:

My turn to show you how I used this month's
StencilClub Stencils.

First I just played.
These grid patterns remind me of quilt blocks...
So I layered them and played with the patterns.

And then a spread in my Daily...

This started with the wonky chevron stamp right through the 6" grid stencil.
Then it was doodling and playing with blending colors.

This last project is near and dear to me.
It was a gift to my nephew at his Eagle Scout Ceremony.
I am so proud of his huge accomplishment.
I made the book from scratch...
and wanted it to look masculine....yet well loved and worn.

I used Nathalie Kalbach's Crackle Stencil as the base
and then the 6"grid stencil over top,
layering different metallic brass paint and several brown paints.

I loved how it turned out!
Thanks for looking and have fun playing with these grids!

I had a great time using this month's awesome stencils to make a fun, layered art journal spread. Rather than use them to create patterns, I went for a more random look.
I love how, even when I'm using them randomly in the spread, they still bring a cohesiveness to the page! Here's a quick overview on how my art journal pages were made. I started by just gessoing the pages of an old book and then blocking out some color on top.
In the second photo above, you can see where I started layering the stencil designs using ink until I liked the way it looked. Then I used some of the larger squares in the various stencils to pencil in squares in little clusters around the page. Once that was done, I outlined the squares and filled in around them with Payne's Gray paint. This is one of my favorite techniques - creating little windows into what's underneath.
Once all the paint was dry, I doodled borders around the pages and the squares with an irRESISTible Pico Embellisher, then I added journaling and used rubons for the word "Breath." (I seal those with matte medium.) That's it! I love how versatile this month's stencils were - they made it so easy and my pages came together fairly quickly, and I love the result! I hope you're inspired and excited to get this month's stencils as well.
Rounding out the ideas with some experimental play and a tip!
I just sat down for a bit with theses stencils to see what patterns I could come up with.
Oh the fun!

Ready for the tip?? After you cut all the stencils to make your 3 morph into 9 stencils, clip them together. You don't loose those little baby ones because let me tell you they are FUN!

This is a great month to try StencilClub if you aren't already a member.
Who wouldn't LOVE NINE exclusive stencils!!!!

  3. Waiting anxiously! I keep my SC stencils each month in a 12 x 12 page protector, so they are always together. But that clip idea is great for when I take them off to play somewhere!

I have belonged to the club for 9 months but did not receive the Oct email. When trying to figure out how to fix it I realized I was supposed to be in a facebook group for stencil club which I never received information about how to be in it. I still cannot figure out how to get the missing email.
