Julie Snidle here to tell you how much fun you can have with
Cecilia Swatton's wonderful Bamboo Wall
stencil from StencilGirl Products.
This is what my stencil looked like after a couple of hours of making backgrounds. I like how the bamboo design provides stripes that can be used both vertically and horizontally.
Although I used the same process for each or these backgrounds, I enjoyed seeing the variety that was produced by just changing paint color.
These backgrounds were all created on 140 pound hot press (smooth) watercolor paper. First, paint the paper with your choice of Golden's heavy body acrylic paint. Let dry. Then cover that with a layer of their fluid acrylics in a color that will contrast or compliment the base color. While the fluid acrylic is still wet, place the stencil on top and wipe with a damp cloth or baby wipe.
It was fun trying different color combinations.
The pages I was working on were about 9x12" and the stencil is 6x6", so I just moved the stencil around. The more I played, the wilder my backgrounds. Where's the bamboo?
This stencil offers so much more than bamboo!
