Handmade Art Journal with the EXCLUSIVE October 2014 StencilClub Stencils from StencilGirl

Hi - Jessica Sporn here to show some art journal pages I created using the StencilGirl Products October Stencils for StencilClub.

I was thrilled when Maria McGuire gave me a chance to play with these stencils.

I was even more excited when I received them.

They are designed by Mary Beth Shaw from her private collection, and I loved them immediately!

I pulled out my gelli plate and started playing.  Before I knew it, I had a bunch of prints and the word "adventure" had popped into my mind.

Why?  Because the prints looked like maps.

I decided to make an art journal, using an oatmeal box for the front and back covers.

Using Yes Paste, I adhered one of the gelli prints to the front and back of the cereal box.

I got so excited working with the stencils, that I forgot to take more photos.  (You can watch a video where I created a pamphlet stitched journal here to see the process.)

Here is the front of the book.

Here is the spread right inside of the front cover.

I love how the detail of the medium sized stencil created a look of a path going around the outsides of the page.

(The picture of the girl floating in the sky is from a postcard from amazingly talented Mindy Lacefield.)

The next spread has a photo from my stash on the left side, and of my grandparents on the right side.  I also used the small stencil (a dandelion) from February Stencil Club

The next spread has a much treasured photograph of my older daughter at New York City Ballet when she was 5 years old.  It seems like yesterday, as well as eons ago, that she was so small!  The meditating figure is from the medium sized stencil from October 2013 Stencil Club.

This next spread has a photograph of my bunk from Westchester Music and Arts Camp in 1973.  I've saved it all these years and finally found a place to use it!  The circles are from the scrap paper that was over my work table - no paper wasted!

Here are the next two pages, ready for some more journaling.  I look forward to sharing more of this journal as I work on it!

Thank you StencilGirl I loved playing with the October Stencils!
