Maria popping in here today to show you what I did with the exclusive
February 2015 StencilClub stencils designed by my buddy Carolyn Dube!
I know quite a few of our viewers out there are doing the DLP Documented Life Project--so am I :) I did it last year and loved my little moleskin so much that I started another one for this year in addition to the way the group is running this year.
Now....these stencils have been sitting on my desk for quite a while I kept moving them every day in a different place telling myself you need to make a sample....but there is a LOT going on here at StencilGirl so I kept moving them....from place to place. Now it was crunch time! Had to...no WANTED to make something with them. 45 MINUTES. That's all I have and you know what?? I did it! Here is a little peek to what I did:;
I took 3 colors that were sitting on my desk. Two oranges and a cream. Paint the entire background the darkest orange.
Lay the 9" x 12" stencil over the right side of the page. I put the upper left hand corner of the stencil in the upper left hand side of the page. Use the lighter orange to stencil over the darker. I chose a color very similar to the background on purpose. I wanted a subtle look, not to have this part pop out...that will come later.
Then I used the 6" x 6" stencil. As Carolyn told you in her reveal video, this stencil layers PERFECTLY over the upper left hand corner of the 9" x 12". I stenciled with cream paint through the 6"x 6" stencil.
Here is the result--PERFECT layering!
I then took the 9" x 12" inch and focused on the stripes at the bottom. From the first day I saw this stencil I knew I wanted to use the lines as a place to journal in and that I did! As you can see, I also stenciled the 9" x 12" in the lighter orange on the left hand side of the page.
Now I needed something for my numbers for the dates....enter the 4" x 4" stencil! I have a thing about stencils that I like to see what else I "see" in them when I use them. I kept turning the 4" x 4" around and seeing how I could incorporate it into my numbers. One turn and I found it! I hand painted the numbers.
Of course, as I always say....the best parts for me are the end...the extra touches to make it me. A little doodling and I was done! Under 45 minutes and what a FUN 45 minutes it was!
So many possibilities with these stencils as you will see from our other team members. Thanks Carolyn for some very cool designs!!!
