Greetings and Salutations! Carol Baxter here to curate September's Throwback Thursday. We have wildly different art from Tina, Gwen, Cindy, and yours truly. (I have the best job because I get to see everyone's art first!)
Check out Tina's blog for an expanded tutorial!

You can check out Gwen's blog for in-progress photos of the whole project, along with a few close-ups of the finished art journal spread.
Throwback Thursday stencils for this one:
Gwen used a whole bunch of her stencils too:
Decorative Curvy Ornament, Decorative Medallion, Ornamental Peacock Feathers, Decorative 6 Petal Flower Screen, Ornamental Floral Screen, Ornamental Circle Cluster Screen, Ornamental Compass Screen, and Ornamental Petals Screen.
I am in charge of centerpieces this year for the board's annual fundraiser for the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Public Library. 2 down, 4 or 6 to go! Bet you can guess what kind of bottles these are covered in old book pages!
The bottles were not as smooth as I would have liked, so I used fabric paint on non-fray fabric to stencil the USA and then cut it out and glued it on the bottle.
Throwback Thursday stencil used: Road Trip USA by June Pfaff Daley
I painted the sailboat on the waves of the small stencil from July 2016 StencilClub. (The old book I tore pages out of was the Sea Witch ... LOL!)
The StencilGirl Creative Team hopes you have enjoyed a look at some stencils you might not have seen recently and are inspired to go make stencil art!
Isn't it grand what can happen when you judiciously daub paint through precision cut mylar designs!?

Cindy Gilstrap's Doodling in Her Art Journal
Cindy writes: "I love using stencils as a jumping off point for doodling! The small Cornish Petals Stencil designed by Lizzie Mayne made a great centerpiece on my art journal page and reminded me of a dream."Discover more about the dream at: www.junqueart.com/blog
Gwen Lafleur's Two Faces Art Journal Spread
Gwen writes: "Looking at the Face Map Side Version 2 stencil by Pam Carriker, I couldn't get the idea of a "face to face" page out of my head. I decided to use that concept as a starting point and see what happened, and I was a little surprised at the direction the project took! As the two faces evolved, it became clear that they were actually alter egos - two aspects of the same person (me?) To flesh out the characters, I used some collage papers I had made ahead of time using some of my stamps and stencils. I kept them black and white until the composition was done, then added in color to finish it off. I love how the Fade Circle stencil by Michelle Ward is so perfect for adding a layer of pattern in the background, or even as a second layer of pattern on top of other stenciled images! In the end, I was really pleased with how this came out; I'll be working with this process again for sure!"You can check out Gwen's blog for in-progress photos of the whole project, along with a few close-ups of the finished art journal spread.

Carol Baxter's Wine Around the Library Vases
Feeling more crafty on the spectrum than artsy as I approached my Throwback Thursday project.I am in charge of centerpieces this year for the board's annual fundraiser for the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Public Library. 2 down, 4 or 6 to go!
