SHINE TODAY
For my project today I wanted to use two of my favorite StencilGirl
stencils for a journal spread.
I've not been able to put these two stencils
down since I got them! I just love them!
I've used Garden Swirl and Now Is The Time.
The colors I've used are Butternut, Spiced Paprika, Coral,
Cherry Red and Yellow Submarine which are all Fresco Finish Paints by
PaperArtsy. The gorgeous purple color is an Amsterdam Expert Acrylics color
called Permanent Red Violet (Shade 567). The Acrylic Inks I used are
Quinacridone Rose and Primary Yellow.
I started by applying color with a damp Baby Wipe, just
randomly on the page to seal the paper and provide a nice warm base layer:
Then I dripped some Amsterdam Acrylic Inks (Primary Yellow
and Quinacradone Rose) up and down the pages to add another layer of interest:
Next I used some Heavy Body Gel Medium through the Now Is The
Time Stencil, picking out the words Shine and Today before stenciling over both
pages with the Garden Swirl Stencil and Amsterdam Acrylics Permanent Red Violet:
When the paint was dry I replaced the word stencil and
sponged lightly over the letters again with Snowflake Fresco Finish Paint so
that you can read the words, but still see the detail of the stencil
underneath.
I love the effect it creates.
I love stamping so all my projects will have stamping on them
somewhere. For my journal page, I wanted to have some feathers floating down to
rest on those beautiful flowery swirls, so I picked Tracy Scott's feathers from
ETS05 for PaperArtsy. I used the yellow acrylic ink to paint the feathers and
then added some shading with my Prismacolour Pencils. I picked out the
hearts with some Crackle Glaze just to make them pop.
Some of the feathers are painted straight onto the page, but
I love fussy cutting so I couldn't resist cutting out some of the feathers to
give the page a bit more dimension.
Hope I inspired you and you have fun stenciling in your art journal, too!
I'm in awe, Lauren, this is fabulous - must get my acrylic inks out again thanks to your encouragement.
