Stephanie Rubiano: Shrink Plastic & StencilGirl® Stencils!

Hey, Y’all!

Stephanie Rubiano here, checking in from Austin, Texas!
I want to share with you a video I created about my newest art infatuation, inkjet shrink plastic, and how you can use StencilGirl® stencils to add big visual impact to these tiny plastic pieces!

Please forgive the first 7 minutes or so of the video’s sound quality…my mic was ever so helpfully sitting on the table rather than clipped to my shirt, so my voice sounds very tinny. Hopefully, the stunning visuals will make up for the mediocre audibles! All of the StencilGirl® stencils I worked with in the video are listed below in order of use and they are 6”x6”, not 7”x7”, as I state in the video…because evidently numbers and rulers confuse me.

The pastel pencils I used were CarbOthello by Stablio.

Here is a link to the type of shrink film I used in my project: Opaque White Inkjet Shrink Film

Here is the link for your design sheet to download it onto your computer: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lbggxlwuvibxlwx/stencilgirl giveaway.pdf?dl=0

Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! If you have any questions, please feel free to track me down at www.studiorubianoworkshops. You can also find me on FaceBook and Instagram. And last but not least, I have an ETSY store, stephanierubiano, where you can pick up a few more design sheets ready-made for shrink plastic if you are bitten by the shrink bug…not to be confused with the stink bug…shrink bugs are much more colorful and charming and non-stinky.

  2. Can you use a laser printer with the shrink plastic? Great project!

    1. Sorry, I didn't see this, Tracy...generally a laser printer and shrink plastic play well together because a laser printer uses heat to set the ink and can warp the plastic.

  3. Great project! I was wondering as I watched whether or not a loop of washi tape on the back would hold the figure in place without adding bulk to interfere with the stenciling.
