Summer Serving Tray by Sunila Mahajan & Aditi Mahajan

We were inspired by the warm colors of Summer and the theme of Abstract for our creation today. We decided to create a tray, which comes handy at home. But after making it, we also thought that it would look really cool up on the wall:)!

This is how we began. A plain MDF tray base. We coated it with pale yellow chalk paint. We then picked out stencils that shouted abstract to us- L708, Mod City Country  Using a piece of sponge we added in brighter hues of yellow.

We then added a pale pink, orange, and copper in the same way with multiple stencils. We've covered the inner as well as the outer rims, and sides of our tray. We used these stencils- January 2019 Stencil Club set, L 697 Morocco Rug, S 673 Tribal Birds.

This is how it looks with our layers so far.

We then used a paintbrush and copper acrylic to define our edges and rim, and to give it an abstract brushed effect.

Once we were happy with our layers, we mixed resin with copper glitter and poured it onto the base, for an even crystallised look. And with that our tray was ready. Here's a look at it.
