Dream Big Stencil
Happy New Year!
Hi Stencil Friends!
Janet here, with my StencilGirl Column
focused on Journals and Planners.
No surprise here! I am still obsessed with those
3.5"x 5.5" field note journals.
Here are a few pages in my recent journals.

This January starts my 6th year of playing in an Art Planner.

Goodbye 2018.
Hello 2019.

Lots of opportunities to use stencils!
Here's a wrap-up of the last couple months of 2018.

Another super fun project I squeezed in during a busy December 2018 was
#CarveDecember hosted by Julie Balzer.

I used a few stencils on my Speedy Carve blocks as design choices.

Again, notice the sizes of my birds.
That is the 6" and 4" stencil along with two smaller carved versions!
I am real excited about those!
And I'm thinking of trying a smaller one yet!

There you go!
Carving stamps is not at all hard.
Take a class or get a book on the subject.
Art is all about having fun and trying new things!

See you next time!

Onesies, Bibs and Stencils

Hi Stencil Lovers!
Janet here from Happy Reminders.
We had a baby shower at my house this summer.
My beautiful daughter is expecting her first baby in Mid August,

It was so much fun for the girls and I to plan a special day to celebrate this baby.
Besides the Family, Friends, Food and Fun....
one of our activities was decorating Onesies and Bibs for the baby & mom-to-be.
I supplied a wide color choice of Fabrico Markers,
several sizes of Onesies, as well as a pile of terry cloth bibs.
We moved a tall table into the sunroom so we would be a little bit out of the way.
I laid out a variety of stencils....not sure if that would interest the non-crafters or not...
Oh...and a bowl of clothespins to hang the finished creations on the strung up clothesline.

Several ladies tried the stencils
even though they didn't consider themselves 'creative' or 'artsy'.
It was fun to see them experience for themselves how easy they are to use.
Sometimes new things look more complicated than they really are.

It was learn as you go for all of us because I had never done this before either!
But it was pretty easy to get the hang of it.

The ladies especially loved the Hands Stencil.

We had five little girls at our shower
and they thought it was pretty cool to have arts and crafts at the party!
They were absolutely precious!
They poured their hearts into making something beautiful for this baby.
I didn't even notice that one of the little girls used the hand stencil
until I was ironing the pile of Onesies!

Oh My Gosh! SEE how easy it really is!
This little 6 year old had the confidence to try a stencil
and make this beautiful piece of art for the baby!
This makes my heart sing!!!!
A gift of art straight from her heart!
How precious is that!

How about these bikes???

I have to admit, these turned out better than I could have imagined!

By the end of the shower.... the creations were hung on clothesline..
Darling Decorations!
There you go!
A very Non-Conventional way to use stencils!
I hope you enjoyed your little visit into my world!

The stencils our shower guests used were:
April 2014 StencilClub Light Bulb by Carolyn Dube
Cowboy Boot by Sue Pelletier
Hands Stencil by Jessica Sporn
Cruiser Side Stencil by Pippin Schupbach
Merry Go Round by Terri Stegmiller
Marrakech Mix by Michelle Ward

Happy Arting everyone!
