Color is a Power - Art Journal Typography-themed page with Natalie May

Nat is back! You are here too! We could not be happier!
You can check out her marvelous art journal and bio below:

Hello Hello ... Natalie here today sharing an Art Journal Page using the Typography theme.

This was an easy theme for me as I LOVE using type and text in all my projects so this one was a breeze!

I started with a coat of gesso on my page to seal it. (I am working in a large Dylusions Journal)
I then used gel medium to collage on some book paper and torn mesh tape before adding some stenciling with heavy gesso through the Central Ave Stencil.

Once that was dry, I used modeling paste through the Wall of Words stencil across the middle of my page and popped it aside to dry.

I wanted to make a little flippy bit for the middle of the page, so used gel medium to join the pages together to make the book paper element a little bigger and backed it in white card.
I then used my fave Hue Tint Tone Shade stencil with a waterproof pen to trace the design.
Lindys Magicals were perfect for adding color to the design and I added a little water to them to color.

Back to the page, I used Lindys Magicals in Blues and Black to add the color to the page but 'puddling' the color around the raised stencil words.  Added a few scribbles and all done!

Keep scrolling down for a quick little video tutorial I made for you ...

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Natalie May's bio:

I’m lucky enough to be a full-time paper crafter and I couldn’t be happier! I’m happily married to the awesome Clever Trevor & have a beautiful 17-year-old girl child!
I teach around 15 classes a month in Australia and absolutely LOVE what I do – turning my hobby into my job & passion.

I am the Australian Ambassador for Lindy's Stamp Gang, a member of StencilGirl's Creative Team, I design chipboard for Imaginarium Designs, am an Intermediate Certified Copic Designer, and love everything inky & colour based.
One of the things that keeps me inspired and teaching is that I love to create in all styles.

As much as this industry likes to ‘Pigeon Hole’ people, I am a versatile artist – I regularly teach & create not only scrapbooking layouts but also Cards, Mixed Media Layouts, Paper-based Layouts, Art Journaling, Abstract Canvas Art, plus Kids classes and whatever else I can come up with.
As an Educator for Lindy Stamp Gang, I especially love to create with their products and love to educate people about mediums, textures and general products.

I love this industry … the opportunity to teach a new technique…. Meeting so many amazing people…..and to be able to CREATE every day is quite a blessing.
