May Flowers

Hi! Mary Nasser here to show you what I did with 3 of Maria McGuire’s newest StencilGirl designs –

Working on canvas with acrylics is my favorite way to use stencils – so I am having a blast stenciling on canvas bags now, too!
And who doesn’t need a cute, bright tote bag for summer day trips and vacations?
For this project, I used a large canvas tote, heavy body acrylic paint in two colors: Permanent Red Violet and Turquoise Green,

Using the blue tape to hold the Loopy Doily stencil in place, I applied Permanent Red Violet with a tiny dauber.
I especially like using these itty-bitty daubers when I want extra control applying paint and for stencils with lots of intricacies like these.

Next, I taped the Tiny Medallion and Seeds stencils in place on the right side of the bag and used another tiny dauber –
this time with Turquoise Green.
Then I rotated these two stencils 180-degrees and used Turquoise Green again on the left side of the bag.

Lastly, I added pink Stained by Sharpie to only the very center of the Loopy Doily stencil.
I did this four times – once on each of the four corners of the outside pocket.

Voila!

I’m ready to pack this baby and hit the road to meet up with Maria and Carolyn!

Happy Stenciling!
