StencilGirl & Canvas Corp!

This month StencilGirl Products is collaborating with Canvas Corp Brands to show unique ways to combine StencilGirl stencils with a variety of Canvas Corp Brands surfaces and Tattered Angels Paint Kits!

Be sure to check out the details at the end of this post on how you can win a prize package
worth over $50 in goodies from StencilGirl Products and Canvas Corp Brands!Hi, Mary Nasser here!
I’ve been having a blast combining StencilGirl stencils with products from Canvas Corp Brands!

My favorite new supply, hands-down, was the Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Kit in Turquoise!
I say "was" because I literally could not stop using it, until I used it all up!!
These are just some of the cool backgrounds I created in my art journal!
The directions were clear and easy to follow, yet the results varied each time in fascinating ways!

I gessoed all of these pages white first and created additional texture with white gesso, too.
I also loved that I could control the spray to keep it contained in my art journal (rather than on my studio table)!
It was mesmerizing watching the paints from this kit combine to make magic!
Below, I'm sharing an art journal spread I created on one of these backgrounds:
For this spread, I also sprayed a kraft tag and corrugated cardboard from Canvas Corp with the turquoise kit!
I stenciled the word "fly" from Carolyn Dube's Now Is The Time onto a small piece of black gessoed paper and glued this onto the corrugated piece. In addition, I adhered two globe images I created in Nancy Curry's Transformations workshop with  It's a Small World Latitude and It's a Small World Longitude.

I added layers of Canvas Corp burlap to create a contrast in texture against the background surface.
I used Let's Go 1 on the kraft tag with one of my favorite techniques: using a Jet Black Ranger Archival ink pad and a fingertip sponge daubers to stencil words, then removing the stencil and connecting the bridges of the letters with my Sakura black Identi-Pen.
And I used black acrylic paint with these Seth Apter stencils:

Once the paint dried, I added drawing with gel pens!
What would a matchup be without a fun prize!!!!

Art Journal cover by Sandee Setliff

I want my journals to be as pretty on the outside as they are on the inside!
How about you?
Do you like to decorate your covers?

This month StencilGirl Products is collaborating with Canvas Corp Brands
to show you unique ways to use StencilGirl stencils with a variety of
Canvas Corp Brands surfaces and Tattered Angels Paint Kits!

My match-ups include:
 StencilGirls
Rain Stencil designed by Jessica Sporn
JournalArtista Stacked Books by Paula Phillips
Pen and Ink Stencil designed by Leslie Riley
Canvas Corp
Tattered Angels Calendar Paint System - Spring Flowers
 7gypsies Starter Journal Cover 8.5x11

Home Basics burlap sheets

The first thing I did was load the front cover with the Tattered Angels Baby Blue simply sheer spray. I am very impressed with the canvas thickness in that none of the spray seeped through to the other side.

Next, I used the Tattered Angels Party Pink glimmer mist through one of the girls on the Rain stencil and painted a hand holding a paint brush. The paint brush from the Pen and Ink stencil was stippled with black acrylic paint and then splatters of the Tattered Angels glazes were dabbed on to emulate a "rain shower" of paint cascading down over the girl.

Next came the platform of books for the rain girl to stand on and I used the burlap sheets, the Pen and Ink stencil and some embroidery floss to create them.

TIP:
To transfer the book stencil to burlap, first outline the stencil with a Sharpie marker, spritz it with alcohol...
and then press it down on the piece of burlap...
and then cut it out.
Then mask the Pen and Ink words on the stencil and stipple with black acrylic paint to the burlap. Sew around the edges of the books and adhere with glue to the front cover.

I finished off the cover by sewing some beads and charms on as bracelets.

There's a prize at the end of the month from
