Snow lady!

Hi! Kirsten Reed here to show a fun way to Nathalie Kalbach's Arabesque Stencil and make some snow ~ something I don't get too much of here in Tennessee!

I started with a 5x7 canvas and sketched out a snowman shape with my Stabilo pencil.  I used a palette knife to scrape on a thick covering of green paint.

I added some light blue with the palette knife randomly and it blended in some areas and not others. I like this effect.

After the paint dried, I made a more definite sketch of the snowman man with my white Galaxy pen.

I then took Nathalie Kalbach's Arabesque stencil and laid it over the sketch.  I used the palette knife again to scrape a thick titanium white acrylic paint through, watching my outline and keeping it inside.

I painted the head a solid white.

I added some titanium white around the edges for a snowy look.  Again, I used the palette knife to keep the look very loose.

Time for some embellishments.  I played around with the snow man a bit and decided that he was a she...so I decided to go glitzy for my little snow lady.  I dug through my stash and added a flower, snowflakes, pearls, furry scarf.

I sketched out her nose, filled it with glue and sprinkled fine blue glitter on it.

I then repeated with the blue glitter added it in between the swirls.  I didn't completely fill it, because I liked the dimension of have the green show too.

Make sure you spread you glitter very generously and be patient to let it dry.  Dump it off on to a sheet and pour it back into your jar.

I added some glue and clear glitter on her flower hat...well, just because.

She can be displayed on an easel or you can add ribbon to her and hang her.  Either way I hope you enjoyed it and stay warm!
