Hi! Mary Nasser here today to show you what I did
with the EXCLUSIVE December 2013 StencilClub stencils
designed by Mary Beth Shaw!
designed by Mary Beth Shaw!
I
decided to use the 6" x 6" stencil with its stars and lovely phases
of the moon and make a quick and festive gift for my sister.
Her home is so full of beautiful holiday decorations, and I wanted to add a little something to her home to celebrate the season.
Her home is so full of beautiful holiday decorations, and I wanted to add a little something to her home to celebrate the season.
I started out with a
6” x 6” canvas board and collaged some text and images from a vintage book
entitled The Wonder of Snow
(my niece and nephew are ALWAYS hoping for snow!)
– but you could even collage elements from holiday cards you send and/or receive.

Then
I brushed on two coats of Prussian blue paint.
After
that dried, I placed the stencil on the canvas board, masking off the two thinnest moons with post-it notes so as not to cover my image and text.
Using a trowel palette knife (you could use an old credit
card or hotel key card, too) I applied Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste
directly onto the stencil. I applied the paste about the same thickness as the
stencil. This is super easy to use! After applying the paste, I carefully
removed the stencil from the canvas board and cleaned both my stencil and palette knife
with a baby wipe.
I
hope this showed you how quick and easy you can create a fun and thoughtful
holiday gift!

DeleteSo darn cute and what a quick way to make a gift. Love the moon and stars. xox
ReplyDeleteThanks, Corrine. This was quick and fun. Sometimes we don't have huge chunks of time in the studio, but that doesn't mean we can't still make something! :)
DeleteI love these beautiful colors ... fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Monica!
