Cat Kerr: Wake Up Journal Page

“Self Doubt” a huge part of the creative process and if you're an over thinker like me...well then some days it can be a very long process to an end result. Lately, I've been challenging myself to create in a short amount of time, forcing myself to just put something down without thinking about it to much. What I've learned is that by doing this, the crazy ideas that I would normally put aside (because in my creative mind they just wouldn't work) are the ones that make it to the page if the stopwatch is running. Because of this I'm learning to let go of what it “should be” and accept what it “is”, and I'm enjoying the contrast.

I created this page “Wake Up” in about 10 minutes. I ended up combining a grungy background with a bright focal, something I normally would never do...I would either create a completely grungy page or a completely bright page. But now that it's finished I'm happy with the result and I look forward to another 10 minutes of creative, no think, crazy play.
