Hi, everyone! Mary Nasser here today!
Inspired by Rae Missigman’s 15 Minutes of Mixed Media, I’ve been working in my small Dylusions art journal in
addition to my large Dylusions art journals.
Like Rae, I use my smaller art journal to test materials and techniques that
are new to me.
I also use the pages like underpaper – to wipe off paint brushes,
my fingers, stencils, rubber stamps – so I am not wasting any materials that
remain on my tools. It’s fun and gives me an immediate background, too!
While I love having large blocks of time to make art, the small chunks can
result in more spontaneity for me.
Imagine my excitement when Rae’s stencil designs were released!!
Layers of acrylic from my brayer fill the
background.
Then I added Rae’s Look Here Trio of Arrows Stencil and Mask, Pointing it Out Stencil and Mask, Clustered Triangles Stencil and Mask, and Mix and Match Scalloped Edges Stencil and Mask,
with Sofft Sponges and acrylics!
Got extra colors and patterns by cutting and collaging an ART POPS™ Card
from Roben-Marie Smith into the composition, too.

I embellished the stenciled arrows by adding
acrylic with a dry brush,
doodling with paint pens, and scribbling with an ink
pen.
And I created the spread below layering paint
from my brayer, this time collaging “underpaper” – torn, cut, and
circle-punched – and added some hand-carved stamping, too.
Below are details:
I embellished these arrows with paint pens and
white ink!
And I added in a bit of Seth Apter's Past Present Future Stencil, too!
Thanks, Rae, for the inspiration and your LOVELY
stencil designs!!
Happy art journaling, everyone!
