Shine Like The Whole Universe Is Yours

Hi StencilGirl fans,

I feel like a kid in the candy store, first for being able to play with some gorgeous stencils and second for guest designing for StencilGirl today. I’m stoked and can’t wait any longer to share my project with you.

This project is a wood clipboard (minus the clip) with some 3D elements to it. I prepared a video for you, so you can follow along:

As you can see I added several layers of paint and other mediums to the clipboard:

1)      I started with 4 layers of Gesso to prime the surface.

2)      Then I sprayed a few blue and brown shades all over the panel.

3)      Next up, I used a bunch of old book paper and music sheets and collaged them all over the place.

4)      To blend the paper more into the background, I added another layer of Gesso on top.

5)      Now I covered the clipboard with Nathalie Kalbach’s Hamburg stencil and blended three different colors through it.

6)      I used the same colors to merge the stenciled part more into the layout.

7)      Sue Pelletier’s Loose Woman 3 is going to be my focal point, so I used texture paste to make her stand out.

8)      While she was drying, I “designed” her dress using some cheese cloth and the Pilgrimage to the Renaissance stencil from Laurie Mika.

9)      I soaked the cloth in Sculpture Medium and then adhered it on top of my dancing woman. The Sculpture Medium makes the fabric really stiff.

10)  Some gold mica flakes for the heart and dress, a few more paint splatters and a cheery sentiment finished up my project.
I hope you enjoyed my project and join me in twirling around the room for a little bit :)

A big thanks to StencilGirl for having me!
