Mixed Media Layout- Fill it with circles by Sunila and Aditi

Hello,

Hope you've had a fantastic start to 2020! Today on the blog, we, Sunila & Aditi are sharing a mixed media layout using our StencilGirl Stencils. This month, we're inspired by the theme- Fill it with circles.

Here's a look at our layout:

We'll run you through the process of this layout, step by step.

Step 1: This was an accident :)! For a different project, we'd sprayed a lindy's spray through the stencil. We used L714, Tapestry by KristieTaylor. We didn't want to waste the spray color residue on the stencil and so we flipped it onto a piece of white cardstock, twice side by side. The result was this fascinating print which made for a perfect background for the layout.

Step 2: For the circle layers, it's time to prepare a page. Layer one stencil over the other, and using two colors, spray through them. L238, Spheres by Michelle Ward as the base and L577, Pomegranate Seeds Grape and Apple by Valerie Sjodin on top of it.

The end result looks like this

Step 3: Using circle punches, or dies, cut of circles and rings of various sizes.

Step 4: Time to work on the composition. Arrange the focal picture and the curve circles around it. When happy, use foam tape to stick them. This adds dimension.

Step 5: Pick out and layers other elements for the layout. We've chosen some die cut leaves, a chipboard frame, and microbeads.

Step 6: Complete it with splatter or the colors used and a title or sentiment.

That's it! We found this to be a super easy and quick technique. Below are some close-ups of the layout!

Lindy's Sprays used:
  • Rudolph's Nose Red
  • Marigold Yellow orange
  • Poinciana Red Flame
  • Hag's Wart Orange
  • Yellow Roses of Texas

 Hope you've enjoyed this pictorial!
Hugs,
Sunila & Aditi
